Neighbor’s Tree Removal

Today the city (Palo Alto) finished up on our street by completing the trimming project, and removing three dead or dying trees on our block. The pictures below show the removal of a stately maple tree in our neighbor’s yard that was about 20 years past it’s 40 year life-span. Although it seemed healthy enough, it was dying from the inside out.

The picture on the left above shows the tree as it was originally. The middle picture shows what was left of the tree about an hour and a half later, and the picture on the right shows the completed removal. The whole process; trimming the branches, taking off the major limbs, felling the trunk, grinding the stump, and clean-up took about 3 hours.

As with all things in life, the cycle is renewed. As they were removing the neighbors tree, another crew arrived and planted a tree in a neighbor’s yard across the street which had been removed a couple of months ago in a different project.

Coincidence? Perhaps, perhaps not.
