MEANING:

noun

  1. world view; philosophy of life; a framework through which to interpret the world.
  2. a comprehensive conception or image of the universe and of humanity’s relation to it.
ETYMOLOGY:

From German Weltanschauung (world view), from Welt (world) + Anschauung (perception).

USAGE:

Ernie summed up his weltanschauung thusly: “Life is like a garden…the seeds that you sow and cultivate will be the plants that you reap.”
